I went to see Sonic The Hedgehog last night and while I was waiting for the movie to start there was a preview for a cartoon movie made by Paramount Animation called RUMBLE. From what I remember, it is about giant monsters having wrestling matches and there was one monster that looked out of shape. There is also this girl that tries to train this monster to be in tip top shape. It is sort of a Rocky-esque movie about an underdog that wants to be the best fighter.
As soon as the Sonic movie was over, I went home to look up any info about RUMBLE and to my surprise there was practically no info about it other than the info found on the movie's IMDB page.
The synopsis reads:
In a world where monsters are tame and monster wrestling is a popular sport, Winnie seeks to follow in her father's footsteps as a manager by turning an inexperienced monster into a contender.
The cast for RUMBLE are:
Will Arnett
Ben Schwartz
Geraldine Viswanathan
Terry Crews
Tony Danza
Jimmy Tatro
Fred Melamed
Michael Buffer
Stephen A. Smith
WWE Wrestler, Roman Reigns
and WWE Female Wrestler, Becky Lynch
The last bit of information is that even though the trailer did not show a release date other than "NEXT YEAR", the movie's IMDB page has RUMBLE slated to release January 29th, 2021. Even though there is no official trailer on YouTube yet there is a phone recorded video of the trailer online. You may have seen the video on either my Facebook or Twitter pages, but if not I will leave a link on here for you to check out on your own.*
UPDATE: The video has been taken down by Paramount and is no longer available.
The first monster we see is a shark monster with tentacles for arms called Tentacular, which I assume will be the movie's bad guy or at least the Apollo Creed of the movie. He is everybody's favorite champion that has gone undefeated and is a real show off.
The next monster we see is the main star of the movie whose name is not revealed yet. He looks like Sully from Pixar's Monster's Inc. with brown skin instead of blue fur. You can tell that he is very out of shape from his large gut. It shows he can barely do one pull up and is being trained under Winnie, the wanna-be wrestling manager.
The final monster we see is probably around just for this short scene, but her design resembles a lot like Anguirus from the Godzilla series with the horn, the frill around her head, and the spikes running down her back. She even has a morning star at the end of her tail that looks like it can do some damage to another monster, but in the case for this movie it could also just be there for aesthetic purposes.
That is everything we know so far about RUMBLE. It is not much, but I'm sure that we will get more information about the movie through out the year. Seeing as it is being released at the end of January, I think it will be one of those movies that will be forgotten about and be out of theaters after a month. It is most likely a quick cash grab so the money made from this movie is placed towards a bigger budget movie.
