Taking a bit of a break from all of the news around Godzilla, there is a bit of news elsewhere that seems to get much attention. Japanese production studio, Toei Company, has been filming their own monster series called, Series Kaiju-ku GYARAS/Monster District Series: GYARAS/Monster Ward Series: GALLAS. Toei Company has started out making horror films, but then branched out to making the most recognizable franchises such as the Super Sentai series (which became Power Rangers in America), the Kamen Rider series, and the famous anime series, Dragon Ball.
The idea for the series is to be a special effects drama series featuring a giant monster raven called Gyaras (or Gallas). Monster District Series: GYARAS was announced in October 2018 at the "Toei Tokusatsu Fan Thanksgiving 2018" event. However, there is a catch to this project.
This particular series is being made specifically for an online streaming service. No, it's not coming to Netflix, but I would not be surprised if this was announced for Netflix in the future. Monster District Series: Gyaras is exclusive to Toei's streaming service called Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club. TTFC is like Netflix as it has a library of movies and TV shows, but it is a streaming service that is exclusive to Japan. So if you don't know Japanese or this streaming service, then you are going to be out of luck trying to watch this.
