For the past couple of days, you may already know about the price tag for the S.H. MonsterArts MechaGodzilla (2021) figure by now. If not, then I will let you know now that it is going for $150 U.S. (¥16376.25 JPY). This figure is expected to release in December 2021 in Japan and January 2022 in the U.S. Plenty of time to pre-order and save some money, right? Well, not exactly.
When it comes to finding figures for this character, it has been a nightmare to search for due to scalpers. Also, Walmart is not the best in terms of restocking their shelves and they do nothing to ensure scalpers don't buy out their entire stock. Walmart really needs to wake up and do something about this issue. So what happens when the S.H. MonsterArts figure is announced? It goes out of stock immediately and that is exactly what happened.
Here are the listings of all the places you could have pre-ordered this figure (This does not include shipping or sales tax):
Right Stuf Anime - $145.99 (CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE)
Entertainment Earth - $149.99 (SOLD OUT)
Toy Wiz - $159.99 (SOLD OUT)
Side Show Collectibles - $150.00 (WAIT LIST)
Poo Poo Panda - $149.99 (SOLD OUT)
Big Bad Toy Store - $159.99 (SOLD OUT)
Tokyo Otaku Mode - $143.00/$125.50 (PREMIUM)
As you can see, almost every place is sold out of this item due to MechaGodzilla's popularity. The only place where you can still pre-order this figure currently is Tokyo Otaku Mode, but they don't start shipping out this product until March 2022. If you need this figure by January, then TOM is not the place to pre-order. At the same time, though, you would be pre-ordering this figure at a lower price than the other places. I just made a pre-order from TOM and my grand total turned out to be $138.00, which is not bad at all. However, if you want to make sure you can get your hands on the MechaGodzilla figure by January, here are some tips on how you can.
Follow the official Tamashii Nations and Bluefin Brands social media pages. They update regularly on which figures are availabile.
Follow The Articulation Series on social media and on their website. They also regularly update on what is in stock and out of stock. Currently, they have a pinned post on their Facebook page that allows you to see all of the links to the stores that sell this figure. If any updates pop-up on the availability of this figure, they're the first to know about it.
Always keep tabs open and keep hitting the refresh button. Even if you follow The Articulation Series on social media, there is always a chance that you may not get to pre-order the figure in time. Scalpers and other collectors will be on top of it the very second they see this figure is available again.
Research Japanese stores that carries this figure. At the moment, none of the online Japanese markets are carrying this figure. My guess is that they are waiting until Godzilla vs Kong has released theatrically in Japan before these stores could start selling the figure. That is just my guess. Again, constantly check social media pages of Tamashii Nations and The Articulation Series for updates. When this figure does begin to pop-up on the Japanese market, be aware that there will be extra cost for importation. So you're going to pay more than the market price.

I know that this figure recently went back up for pre-order on Amazon.
