Marketing For "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" Begins

Just as we thought we couldn't get any more excited as November is about to close and December begins, we got some more Monsterverse goodies heading our way very soon. For a couple of weeks, there have been rumors about Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire appearing at Brazil's Comic Con Experience (aka CCXP). We started to learn as we got closer that Warner Bros. is attending the convention and there will be a panel for the film. Yesterday, we started to see some marketing for Godzilla x Kong beginning.

On the Instagram page, we see segments of a larger picture. On the top and bottom portions, we see hand prints with the top coming from Godzilla vs Kong and the bottom coming from Kong: Skull Island and in the middle it reads, "SOMETHING IS COMING." Originally, these hand prints were supposed to belong to Kong or one of Kong's ancestors. Now, it is being suggested that these hand prints are not Kong's, but rather eluding to something bigger. As we have learned in the teaser back in February, the new antagonist in the film is another giant ape that looks similar to Kong, but it looks more like an orangutan than a gorilla.

This is even more so after learning a new poster has dropped at the time of writing this article with a new tag line saying, "BOW TO YOUR NEW KING." In this new poster, we can even see our actual first look of the new "Orangu-Kong" looking really menacing. It reminds me of Koba from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He really looks like a dirty ape that looks ready to take on both Kong and Godzilla.

I know that November marked the 69th anniversary for Godzilla and we already had a lot of Godzilla content drop this month. We had the two short films during Godzilla-Fest, Godzilla Minus One has just released today on IMAX for an early access event, and the newest Monsterverse Apple TV series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, released the first two episodes two weeks ago and it has had a very strong start since then. Everyone was expecting the marketing for Godzilla x Kong to begin after Monarch ended in January, but it looks to be coming sooner than expected.

There are rumors that we may even see a trailer drop tomorrow before the CCXP panel on December 3rd. It was originally to get our first look at Godzilla x Kong at SDCC this year, but the panel was canceled due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. So none of the cast were able to attend the convention and talk about the movie at SDCC. With the strike over and done with and if the rumors are true, we could get to see our very first look of the fifth Monsterverse film much sooner than expected.

I do want to warn that pictures of the toys have started to leak, as well. I won't show them here until the film has released, but it is spreading like wild fire across social media and on YouTube. So I do ask those to please not spread these photos out to the open. There are people that do not want the movie spoiled and would like to go see the movie with very little knowledge and with an open mind. So let us try to keep everyone in mind and not share these pictures out in the open.

With that, I want to know what you guys think will happen. Do you think we will be getting our first trailer for Godzilla x Kong really soon or do you think it is still too soon? Leave a comment in the comments section of your thoughts on the marketing for the movie beginning to ramp up.
