Ever since last year’s announcement, we have not heard a word about the production of this new Cloverfield sequel. The movie has been kept hush-hush just like 2008’s Cloverfield. However, a bit of an anomaly happened last night that has to do with a Twitter account under the handle Tagruato Corp. as it had made fans start talking about it again.
When the account was discovered, it made three posts with some imagery that came from Cloverfield and The Cloverfield Paradox and one image that came from NOAA (National Oceans Association of America). In two of these posts, it had a little message. The first one in morse code read, “SOS stop drilling,” and the second message that looked to be in Arabic read, “Leviathan is alive.”
Since then, the account has been taken down and been put back up with all, but one tweet removed and this tweet dates back to 2018 responding to a comment. For a while, this had people questioning if the marketing for the new Cloverfield movie was beginning. Some say the account is fake because it had no verified checkmark next to it. Also, the account follows Bad Robot, but Bad Robot doesn’t follow Tagruato.
What I find odd is that before the account was deleted and brought back, the account was inactive since 2018. The last post the page made had an image of the satellite from The Cloverfield Paradox. Then, there was nothing until last night. If the account is fake, then why has it stayed inactive for four years?
If you take a look at the account for Slusho (one of Tagruato’s subsidiaries in the Cloverfield series) that account is not verified either. It doesn’t have a blue checkmark next to the handle. Once again, it has been inactive since September 2018 saying, “beep blop” and Slusho follows Bad Robot, but Bad Robot doesn’t follow Slusho.
I am not sure yet if this is a sign that the marketing for “Cloverfield 2” is going to begin soon. We will see what happens if the marketing will begin soon or if it is a false flag. CinemaCon is coming up from April 25–28 and Paramount Pictures will be there to present their upcoming movies as well as an exclusive screening of Top Gun: Maverick. So it could be possible that these accounts are just getting updated to prepare for April.
As far as we know about the film, this is reported to be a direct sequel to the 2008 film rather than a one-off with “Cloverfield” in the title. The Batman screen writer Joe Barton is attached to writing the script for the sequel. He had planned to work on The Batman spin-off TV series called Gotham PD, but has been canceled for some time.
What are your thoughts on the recent activity? Do you think this is a sign that the viral marketing for “Cloverfield 2” is about to happen or do you think this is a false flag?
