Let's Talk Bullshit: Race Baiting Godzilla Fans

I will be honest, I don't want to talk about politics on my blog. I always felt that the Godzilla franchise is the last bastion to get away from all the identity politics. Now, here we are in 2018, I am still trying to calm myself down from the excitement for Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, and I wake up this morning to find this picture. I laughed at this post for being outrageously idiotic it was. Here is the reason why I find this completely idiotic.

First off, most of these Godzilla movies are made in Japan and had the monster attacking their own country. Not us. Them. The last 2 Godzilla movies America made had Godzilla attack New York, Hawaii, and San Fransisco. So we're more inclined on wanting to see our own country get attacked than another country. You're never going to see a monster movie where they don't attack cities. You always need monsters attacking something somewhere.

Second of all, Pearl Harbor happened back in 1941, which was over seventy years ago. Back in World War II, Japan did a lot of horrible things during that war. They raped Chinese and Korean women, did ungodly experiments and tortured captive soldiers, etc. That is part of the World War II history that our schools don't teach you. Our soldiers fought, tortured, and died to protect our country so you can choose how you want to live and voice your opinion. Japan has moved on from that time period. The newer generations will study about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but they're not traumatized by it. They're not hiding in a corner somewhere cowering in fear when the boogeyman America is going to drop the bomb on them. Shin Godzilla even reinvented Godzilla's origin to relate with the happenings of the modern world such as the 2011 tsunami and the Fukushima Daiichi power plant almost melting down.

Lastly, I don't see myself as Godzilla. I root for Godzilla because I want to watch monsters beat the living crap out of each other or always dreamed about playing the character, but these are movies. Godzilla is a franchise of movies that always involved Godzilla and other monsters most of the time. Also, whites are not the only fans that watch these movies. Both men and women that are Asians, blacks, whites, and hispanics that watch these movies as well. If you're going to keep blaming the "white boogeyman" or anybody else as the cause of all of your problems, then you have another thing coming. The whole world does not revolve around you and your problems. I have problems of my own just like everybody else. So don't bring in your identity politics bullshit and expect others to cater to only you because you are only a minority shouting in a crowd of the majority that don't really care about your politics.

I know this was not the kind of post you were hoping to see on this blog, but I am currently working on my trailer dissection post which is coming soon. I thank all of you for reading and I hope all of you have a good day.
