KdM Makes Exclusive Title Reveal Of The Upcoming Monsterverse Show

As all of you may know, I always take any insider information with a grain of salt because insider information is unconfirmed information. The only insider I consider very reliable has been Königreich der Monster (KdM). He has always come through with behind-the-scenes photos, footage, and accurate information on upcoming movies and shows related to the Monsterverse. Lately, he has been giving us information in the form of riddles. On Saturday, however, he made an exclusive reveal on the upcoming Monsterverse show.

In one simple post on social media, he reveals "MONARCH: Legacy of Monsters" as the official title of the Monsterverse TV show. When the show was first announced it was under the working title "Hour Glass." The show takes place after the events of Godzilla (2014). After San Fransisco has been destroyed and the world now knowing that Godzilla and monsters called Titans are real, a family unravels a mystery concerning one of their own having ties to a secret organization called Monarch. The cast includes Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell, Mari Yamamoto, Christopher Heyerdahl, Qyoko Kudo, Josh Collins, Charlie Hewson, Junichi Tajiri, Charlie Karumi, Kiersey Clemons, Anna Sawai, Joe Tippett, Lisa Chandler, Elisa Lasowski, Valencia Budijanto, Adam Kirchner, and Aaron Latta-Morissette.

KdM has provided mounds of information and behind-the-set photos hinting at what to expect. He has revealed there will be plenty of monsters set to appear and Godzilla is in the show not just for a brief time. This would mean Godzilla plays a huge part of the show's story. Although, there is that five year gap between the events that happened in 2014 and Godzilla: King of the Monsters where Godzilla was not seen by the public. Just because the public has not seen Godzilla for those five years doesn't mean Godzilla hasn't been around. Monarch just has to know where to look for him. Godzilla was active and around in Godzilla: Aftershock hunting down the MUTO Prime, which also took place right after Godzilla (2014). So we might see some scenes in Godzilla: Aftershock play out in the show.

I do still keep hearing people say we won't see much monster action because it is a budget for TV. If you have not watched Surface yet, go watch that show right now. The monster in that show appears in all of the episodes and there is always something going on. I will admit the CGI in that show has aged, but it has a similar story. A secret organization is trying to keep these sea monsters a secret from the public and there are three people that has had a close encounter with these monsters to the point where two of them are going out and trying to expose these monsters to the public and the other is raising a baby monster in his house. So I say to not rule out the possibility of seeing a lot of monster action quite yet.

Most importantly, KdM has pointed out that MONARCH will connect with the upcoming fifth Monsterverse film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which is expected to release March 15th, 2024. He has mentioned we will see old and new monsters in this show, so it would make sense if any of those new monsters will make an appearance in the new movie. Or maybe it could be something else like a blueprint for a weapon or a character in the show making their debut in the movie. Whatever it is, it is going to be a small detail in the show, at first, until we see it again in the movie as a bigger deal.

There is no release date for MONARCH: Legacy of Monsters yet, but considering the show's connection with the upcoming film it is expected the show will release on Apple TV+ this year. I know I predicted it would be this Summer for when the show will be released. Yet, it is already the Summer season and it is looking like Fall 2023 is going to be when this show will be released. It should not be too long of a wait for the first preview of the show. Maybe in July during San Diego Comic Con could be a good time to drop it. Or it could even be earlier than that. Either way, I am sure that Legendary will want this show debuting on Apple TV+ before Godzilla x Kong in 2024.

What are your thoughts on the official title for the Apple TV show? Do you like the title or do you think it could be better? How soon do you think we will get to see a preview of the show?
